This new 9,000 sf fire station serves as headquarters for the Campbell Fire Department. The station includes apparatus bays, administration offices, and separate living quarters for 21 firefighters and officers.
Dormitories on the second floor have retractable bed units which fold up into the wall, creating a large room to host community CPR and safety training. The living quarters were designed over the apparatus bay where a paramedic unit and two engine companies are housed. A unique slide system accesses this operations area below.
These design features create highly versatile work areas. The design incorporates passive solar energy and includes a solar hot water heating system. Client: City of Campbell.
