This project required complete interior remodeling of an office building constructed and occupied by the County Social Services Department since 1962. The Owners required the building to remain in use during the construction period, resulting in a 3-phase, 9-month construction period, with breaks for relocating the staff during construction.
Fire access and emergency egress was maintained with temporary exits during construction. This project required space planning and reorganization of the Social Services and Public Health Departments. Complete upgrading of interior finishes, electrical and mechanical systems was required. A new fire sprinkler system was installed. Toilets were remodeled and made ADA compliant and thirty years worth of repairs were undertaken with this remodel. A new staff patio was added and other minor exterior repairs were accomplished.
