Association of California School Administrators
Burlingame, CA

SIZE: 18,000 s.f.
DATE: 1998
COST: $400,000

This building is one of five facilities owned by the Association of California School Administrators throughout the State. It is a three-story, 18,000 sf concrete structure built in the early 1970ís which had never been remodeled.

The original project program included complete evaluation and master planning of all the departments and their relationship to each other and common facilities. Accommodations were designed for a new Floor 1 lobby and large meeting rooms, as well as a new entry pavilion. A special permit from the City of Burlingame was applied for and received as the first stage of this build-out.

Subsequently, operational and maintenance considerations within the organization took a different tack, and the project was reduced to interior refinishing and new exterior paint and window sealing. Toilets on each floor were remodeled and made handicapped accessible, and a coordinated and exciting new interior palette was installed throughout the entire building. The project was phased to allow Owner operations to continue throughout construction.
