This was a contemporary, post-World War II home nestled in the foothills below Mt. Hamilton that commanded expansive views of the Santa Clara Valley, but had few other architectural comforts. The 1946 house was designed by noted Santa Clara Valley architects, and possessed the clean lines, open plan, and borad fenestration typical of contemporary design of the era. The exteriors were composed of low horizontal forms, planar walls and a low slope roof.

Capitalizing on the clean lines and open plan of the original house, the remodel raised the ceilings, taking advantage of the light and view, and improving ventilation. A spacious master suite complete with a multi-purpose office and second bath were added as part of the new second floor constructed over the garage and cellar. This part of the addition is enhanced by a sculptural, curving "wiggle-wall" that adds a contemporary curved form to the formerly rectilinear geometry. The 40's era kitchen was expanded as a kitchen/family room with breakfast nook with all new cabinetry and appliances. This remodel capitalized on the view and privacy inherent to the site to create something truly unique.
