Dohrmann Building Rehabilitation
San Jose, CA

SIZE: 38,000 s.f.
DATE: 1986
COST: $1,400,000

This unique building is the singular example of its historic architectural style, the urban loft, in the San Jose area. Constructed in the mid-1920's, the Trinkler-Dorhmann Building is four stories of reinforced concrete frame and wood joist construction upon a full basement.

The 1986 rehabilitation of this 4-story, 38,000 sf historic building required new electrical and HVAC systems, fire sprinklers, an elevator, and restrooms and amenities for disabled access. The fenestrated terra-cotta facade, with its established pattern of bays, was completely rehabilitated; glass storefronts were remodeled along traditional lines.
